Citizenship Program

The Citizenship Program is one of the surefire ways to help our community members develop health and well-being in their lives by helping them become naturalized United States citizens. Over the past 30 years, we have helped hundreds of refugees and immigrants pass their naturalization test. The Immigration Program was initiated when a large wave of refugees and immigrants arrived in Santa Ana seeking assistance to become naturalized citizens. The Cambodian Family was able to provide residents with citizenship education classes in Khmer while also teaching them English. In the past year, The Cambodian Family has helped 84 community members receive assistance with their United States citizenship applications. We also provide immigration related services such as residency renewal citizenship classes, and English as a Second Language classes. We enrolled 45 students in our citizenship and ESL classes.

This program offers:

  • N-400 naturalization (citizenship) eligibility screenings
  • N-400 naturalization application assistance/review
  • Green Card renewals
  • Case management
  • Citizenship Class
  • English as a Second Language class
  • Complex case referrals

Our staff is partially recognized by the Department of Justice and is bilingual in English/Khmer as well as English/Spanish. In addition, this program also seeks to outreach and educate the community about the naturalization services and the benefits of naturalization. Our civic engagement training, citizenship classes, and referrals for other forms of immigration relief are also available through this program.  For more information about our immigration program, please email Sophia Chhoeng at sophiac@cambodianfamily.org
