Khmer Arts Salon hosted by Khmer Arts Academy (KAA) at The Cambodian Family!

Friday, March 9th, at 5.30 PM. The event is free and open to the public.

After hosting the Khmer Arts Salon Series for two years in its Cambodia Town studio in Long Beach, the Khmer Arts Academy is touring its Salon Series all over California! For this installment at The Cambodian Family, there was a special performance of Sophiline Cheam Shapiro’s “Neang Neak” by Sophanmay Nong, Khmer Arts Academy Artist-in-Residence. The event also featured a lecture and demonstration led by Prumsodun Ok, Associate Artistic Director of the Khmer Arts Academy, who guided us through the dance and the art of Cambodian classical dance.

Why We Need Your Help!

Why We Need Your HELP!

  • Despite making significant accomplishments in serving our community, we find that our traditional funding base has been declining.
  • Government support for social services has decreased, while competition for foundation and corporate funding has increased.
  • Instability in financial markets has affected many private donors who now give smaller grants and donations, while, at the same time, more community and faith-based organizations compete for decreasing amounts of funds.
  • Our funding challenges impact the number of at-risk youths and needy adults we can serve.
  • Underserved youths become vulnerable to gang influence.
  • Adults face consequences such as unemployment or lack of access to medical care.
  • We increasingly rely on private funding to offset reductions in government funding.

At The Cambodian Family, we are increasing our efforts to raise public awareness of the needs in our community and also the needs of our agency.

We are striving to raise public awareness and attract donors/funders to support our agency and its programs. We especially need you to suggest other people to us to help us secure more funds, resources, and volunteers.
